Last week of the quarter before finals! I can’t believe it’s almost spring quarter and yet, at the same time, I am ready for this quarter to be over. The last couple of weeks have been busy, busy, busy. I’ve been updating the Mayor’s Office’s Facebook page, having meetings about changes and then making more changes. It is such a cycle of work it seems, but the only way to know what truly works is to try it, which is what we have been doing the last few weeks.
In addition to working on the Facebook and Twitter pages, we have been drafting news releases to send out to the local media outlets. The main purpose of the releases it to alert residents about the Mayor’s social media outlets. We want residents to have another source to go to for information and since Facebook already has such a large following, why not make it productive as well? Additionally, the releases are aimed to encourage individuals to sign up for the City’s emergency text messaging system, Nixle.
Lastly, the other big project I’ve been working on is a City draft of social media guidelines. Those probably won’t be finished until next week due to the amount of work in my other classes, but they are slowly coming together and I think Ron will be pleased with the results.
As for now, I’m going to get back to work. Check the local area papers within the next coming weeks to look for our News Releases! Enjoy spring break everyone!
