Hello everyone! Sorry for the lack of update at the end of last quarter but school snuck up on me a bit! Just as a quick reminder, I am working on the Volunteer Development and Community Outreach for Passion Works Studio, here in Athens, Ohio.
Last quarter, Laura and I were able to complete the presentation materials and evaluative tools we will be using this quarter. We are implementing a volunteer survey as well as separate focus groups for the staff and volunteers at Passion Works. After the beginning of the quarter meeting last week, we have been working on tightening up the focus group scripts, with the help of Voinovich School professors and staff. The dates are set for the focus groups at the end of April and beginning of May.
In the meantime, I am starting on my Women and Gender Studies Certificate with a class in that department this quarter as well as two other classes, one a core MPA class, and the other, an education-based leadership class. This is shaping up to be a busy quarter, but definitely manageable.
As a group, we are also working on the Capstone Event, set for June 3, 2011, where we will be presenting our projects. I am helping to Co-chair the event, so major coordination efforts will be happening with that this quarter. I can’t believe it’s already Spring! This year has gone by so fast.
I am also happy to report that, through connections with OU and the Voinovich School, I will be interning with Habitat for Humanity of Ohio in Columbus this summer. It should be a great experience in the non-profit sector, and I am very excited for the experience.
Now, it’s back to the grind!
