This quarter is bound to be full of work—but at least it will be interesting work! I’m taking the MPA Seminar class—because it is held on Mondays, I haven’t had the class yet, but I’m looking forward to it starting. The subject seems interesting, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little bit intimidated!
I’m also taking Nonprofit Management, which I hope will supplement the experiences I have already had in nonprofits. I’ve seen the administrative sides of both Passion Works and Habitat for Humanity, so I look forward to learning other perspectives of nonprofit management and what can be done to make nonprofits function more efficiently and serve the intended populations.
Finally, I’m taking my second class in the business school ever—Organizational Behavior (I had Business Law during undergrad). This class looks really interesting because it approaches management from a psychological standpoint. The class examines all aspects of management, from the private to the public sector. I am the only graduate student in the class, which makes for a different dynamic than most of the other classes I have taken in school thus far.
Overall, I’m looking forward to the quarter. I am, however, in shock that I only have two quarters of school left!! After being in school for roughly 18.5 years, the idea that school could be over is a welcome relief and stress-worthy to say in the least. I’m applying for an internship currently, that I hope will put me on the ground in D.C. for the summer, and allow me more of a chance to find a permanent, “big girl” job. Scary!
I came across this quote recently that I want to share: “I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.” -Albert Einstein
My hope is that my passionate curiosity will serve me well this quarter, and after 🙂
See you next week with another update!
