The Ohio University “Ohio: Sense of Place” theme will host a guided tour of the trees of the Ridges on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 4 to 5 p.m.
Jean Andrews, Voinovich School alumna and designer of Ohio University’s “Trees of the College Green” tour, will share stories about The Ridges trees based on interviews she conducted with the people who worked, volunteered or were treated at the former Athens Mental Health Center.
Voinovich School students and supporters are encouraged to attend. Space is limited to 20 attendees, so reservations are required. E-mail Daniel Hembree, associate professor of geological sciences, at firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, Sept. 25, to make a reservation or for more information.
Participants should meet at the front entrance of the Kennedy Museum of Art on The Ridges.
The field trip includes walking on and off the brick road around the buildings, so participants should wear appropriate clothing, including long pants and sturdy footwear.
The Ohio: Sense of Place theme is a curricular theme within OHIO’s College of Arts and Sciences. Students explore the ancient and modern plants and animals of Ohio, Neolithic to industrial cultures and history, art, literature, and music, politics, language and more through the classroom and hands-on experience.
