Ohio University offers $200K in internal awards for student research and creative activity

Ohio University has an investment portfolio of about $200,000 per year for student research and creative activity. See below for a list of the many opportunities for students to receive university funding.

  •  Student Enhancement Awards
    • Competitive awards to support undergraduate, graduate and medical student research, scholarship and creative activities. Awards of up to $6,000 support research and travel to attend a professional meeting to present results.
    • Deadlines: Thursday, January 19, 2017, 4 p.m.
    • Workshop: Wednesday, November 16, 12 – 1 p.m.; Thursday, November 17, 4 –  5 p.m. (repeat); 301U Alden Library; light refreshments provided.

  • Ohio University Undergraduate Conference Travel Fund
    • Small awards of up to $500 for travel assistance for undergraduate students presenting their work at conference and other venues for presentation.
    • Deadline: open, until funds expended.

  • Provost Undergraduate Research Fund
    • Small awards of up to $1,500 to support undergraduate research, including supplies, materials and travel.
    • Deadline: Thursday, September 22, 2016, 4 p.m.

  •  Grants for Original Work
    • Competitive awards to graduate students to conduct original research, scholarship or creative work. Maximum award $750.
    • Deadlines: Saturday, September 17, 2016, 5 p.m.; Saturday, February 11, 2017, 5 p.m.
  • Travel Program
    • Will support travel to present original work, as well as travel for professional development workshops and seminars. Proposal selected by lottery. Maximum award $500.
    • Deadlines: Friday, September 16, 2016, 5 p.m.; Friday, February 10, 2017, 5 p.m.

  • How to Find Funding for Fellowships and Grants to Support Research/Creative Activity using PIVOT

  • START SMART
    • Geared towards women but all are welcome. Learn how to negotiate your salary, construct a budget, define and understand how the wage gap affects everyone, and combat the wage gap. Presented by the Women’s Center director, this is a free event for all students.
