Women pursuing graduate or post-doctoral study may be eligible for awards of up to $30,000 from the the American Association of University Women – and the Ohio University Women’s Center is here to help interested OHIO women earn those awards.
From noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, the Women’s Center, will host a workshop called, “How to Write a Competitive AAUW Fellowship Application,” focused on assisting women interested in AAUW’s American Fellowships and International Fellowships. The Women’s Center is in Baker 403.
The American Fellowships award women anywhere from $6,000 to $30,000 to complete dissertations, conduct postdoctoral research full time, or prepare research for publication. For international students, AAUW offers International Fellowships, awarding from $18,000 to $30,000. The International Fellowships are designed for women pursuing full-time graduate or postdoctoral study in the U.S., who are not U.S. citizens and who intend to bring their education back to their home countries to become leaders. The deadline for American Fellowships is November 15; the deadline for International Fellowships is December 1.
While the Women’s Center workshop will focus on these two fellowships, AAUW also offers other fellowships and grants available to women. They also fund non-degree research projects promoting education and equity for women and girls, the pursuit of a certificate or degree for the purpose of career advancement or the pursuit of a full-time study in a master’s or professional degree program in which women are underrepresented.
